Tangiers is undeniably one of the world’s most fascinating metropolises. This city in northern Morocco has a long history of interesting individuals.
A wide variety of people, from many walks of life. The historic city has witnessed the passage of pirates, traders, authors, artists, and even some eccentric billionaires. In the years leading up to the height of the cold war, Tangiers became a key hub for international spies and weapons merchants because of its status as an international zone. Beatnik novelist William S. Burroughs settled down during this period to pen his seminal work Naked Lunch. The book’s setting, interzone, is based on this bustling metropolis. So, why do so many people travel to Tangier? Reason number one is because it is situated at the point where the Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans converge at the Strait of Gibraltar. It has a warm and humid environment, which is another draw. One more is the high quality of its food, which makes great use of spices and fresh fruit like lemons. Lemons, a staple of practically every meal in Tangiers, are harvested daily from orchards just outside the city and used in both public and commercial establishments. Meats, breads, stews, and even tea occasionally benefit from a squirt of their juices. Fresh lemon flavour combined with premium white tea evokes the unique atmosphere of Tangier and makes for a cup of tea that can only be characterized as “poetry in a cup.” From the first sip, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the heart of the magnificent city, thanks to its light, breezy nature, which is loaded with seductive with overtones of lemon. Make yourself a cup of tea and relax in bed with some Edgar Rice Burroughs. two or three afternoons at the most.
