Since ancient times, the natives of Madagascar’s islands have recognized pomegranates as a divine gift. Locals in Malagasy referred to it as “the great drum of heaven.” The fruit was put to many different uses, f rom the leaves, they extracted substances used to make skin ink and medicines for the stomach. Wine was made from the bark, and it was also employed as a vermifuge. Without a doubt, this is a fantastic piece of fruit. The food and beverage sector adopted the term “superfruit” in 2005, and it was then that pomegranates gained widespread attention. We’ve discovered a new and wonderful application for this incredible fruit: a delicious complement to our great high-grown Ceylon tea. We’ve also included the exotic flavour of vanilla orchids as a nod to another delicious delight from Madagascar. The final mug is superb, reeking with winey pomegranate aromas and displaying hints of astringent fruit and a velvety-smooth vanilla finish. Heaven knows we need this one.
