Reasons for dubbing this pungent spice the “queen of spices” are not hard to come up with. If you break open a pod, the flavour will flood your lips and the warmth will radiate through your entire body.
Cardamom, second only to black pepper in popularity, is used extensively in the cuisine of several East Asian countries. Cardamom was first mentioned in history in the writings of the Greek physician Theophrastus in the fourth century BC. He stated that the pods had medical use. Yet, modern applications of the spice can be traced back to the traditions of southern India. People there thought so highly of the spice that they sacrificed it to the gods at religious rites. Because of the high regard in which we hold this tea, we insist that you make a pot and present it as a gift to your dinner guests. We’re proud to provide one of the world’s most unusual mixtures.
