The Queen Mary was a famous luxury liner that sailed the oceans from 1936 to 1967. She was constructed for the Cunard Line and was among the most luxurious vessels of her era. She was built to give European and North American passengers a luxury and stress-free experience on their way across the Atlantic.
In 1936, the Queen Mary set sail from Southampton, England, for her inaugural journey to New York City. She was over 1,000 feet in length and weighed in at over 80,000 tons, making her the greatest ship of her day. A magnificent staircase, wood paneling, and sumptuous furniture were just some of the Art Deco features that made her home famous.
Over the course of World War II, the Queen Mary served as a troopship, transporting soldiers and supplies across the Atlantic. Due to her stealth and speed, she was dubbed the “Grey Ghost” and painted that colour. She resumed her original job as a passenger liner after World War II and was in service until 1967.
With its speed and style, the new liner was a clear symbol that the Great Depression was ended. A daily tradition for passengers onboard the Queen Mary would be afternoon tea. A trip aboard the Queen Mary has been touted as a panacea for life’s ills. Everyone would feel rejuvenated by the sea breeze and sunshine, and the nighttime warmth of a cup of tea would be welcome as one watched the sea miles fade into blackness.
Currently a hotel, museum, and event venue, the Queen Mary is permanently moored in Long Beach, California. In addition to learning about her fascinating past, visitors may enjoy all the creature comforts that made the ship a favourite among those crossing the Atlantic.
Keeping in mind the interconnectedness of quality, comfort, and serenity, we crafted a mix in remembrance of those times.Whether you’re relaxing on a deck chair or resting on the beach, the “Queen Mary Blend” is the perfect tea to sip. We’re confident you’ll love this time-honored flavor, which will transport you to the decks of a transoceanic liner with each sip.
