Have a nice time in warm and welcoming Norfolk! Norfolk, located on the east coast of Britain, has long been apopular warm-weather destination for Brits. The phrase “Welcome to Norfolk” may not have the same ring as “Welcome to Honolulu,” but the sentiment is the same. How much longer? Since the Roman conquest of Britain in 48 AD, when they first came to the area to construct roads and harbours, to be exact.
Since then, Norfolk has welcomed its share of tourists and seen the birth of many notable British figures. We are all aware that the British have a penchant for tea. When it came time to create a new tea blend, the best thought is fitting to honour the homes of notable tea drinkers including Britain’s first Prime Minister Robert Walpole (1676-1745), the country’s most famous naval leader Lord Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), and the late Princess of Wales, Diana (1961-1997).
What, then, do you put into a tea blend to honour something so monumental? What an ingenious enquiry. S tarting by only using the finest 2% of global tea harvest. A We also use a high-grown Ceylon tea for its rich floral notes, a South Indian tea for its rounded body, and two separate Assams for their malty depth and profound colour, all sourced from the countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. And then added a Chinese Imperial Keemun for sweetness (traditionally the base for all English Breakfast teas). The finish on this cup is particularly lengthy and silky, with hints of citrus, berry jams, and toast. To enjoy with some bread and marmalade while reading the Sunday paper in bed, this tea is ideal. (Incidentally, this is the breakfast Diana ate before her wedding to Prince Charles.) Toast Norfolk with a steaming mug!
