Among Sri Lanka’s regions, Nuwara Eliya and Dimbula are seeing among of the country’s highest rates of economic growth. This region’s output has a delightfully astringent and sharp flavour during the peak season (February and March). Weather that is mostly dry but has a few sprinkles in the evenings and is bright and sunny throughout the day is ideal for manufacturing. When the tea bush is compelled to focus all its resources on the new growth, the flavour is enhanced under these conditions.
Tea with a muscatel flavour is best produced in the Darjeeling area in north central India, at an altitude of more than 5,000 feet above sea level, in soils that are unlike anywhere else on Earth, and with tea bushes from the Chinese genus.
White Monkey Paw green tea, which can only be produced from the plant’s tender young shoots between the months of March and April, has a delicate, airy quality that can’t be achieved with black tea.
The perfect tea for an English evening is one that complements the flavours of the meal without overpowering them. The tea will make you want to have another cup and will spark lively debate among your friends and family. Since its introduction to the British Isles over 200 years ago, it has been a popular pastime for many, from the Duke of Edinburgh to the Cockneys of London.
