The Tibetan Plateau, where the lavender for this extraordinary tea mix is cultivated, is not officially recognised as a global wonder, but it certainly ought to be. Located at an average elevation of more than 4500 metres, the Plateau is sometimes referred to as the “Rooftop of the Earth” because of its immense size (about four or five times the area of France or Texas) in relation to the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
The plateau is the third least populated region of the planet after Antarctica and Greenland, and it features a wide variety of ecosystems, including brackish lakes, tundra, grasslands, and desert. Yet, nomadic tribesmen and their families have carved out an existence in this desolate landscape by moving from place to place by driving their yaks over the enormous sky.
Wild lavender, which grows abundantly in and around the lakes and grasslands of the plateau, has been a valuable source of revenue for the nomads for years. There is a sea of beautiful purple flowers that flows as they blossom. The flowers are picked by nomadic families, dried in the sun, and then brought from the highlands, most often to Lhasa. While the grownups are hard at work, the kids may keep themselves entertained by trying to capture some of the numerous butterflies that have been drawn to the aromatic flowers. Parnassius butterflies, contrary to popular belief, are an indigenous species to the Himalayas and have evolved to thrive at the region’s extreme heights. Since butterflies undergo so many different genetic changes as they migrate from one mountain range to the next, you can’t find any one range’s butterflies anywhere else. One of the most heavenly sights is that of the children of the pluckers running after the multicoloured insects.
We are delighted to present this superb tea, which mixes the floral, almost ethereal taste of lavender with the robust, earthy notes of premium Hunan green tea. Exemplary in every way, this brew opens with aromas of honeyed grass and moss before developing a peachy, flowery aftertaste. This fantastic tea originates in a fantastic region of the globe. Pair it with something light and airy, like a citrus parfait or a delicate pastry. This tea is perfect for after-dinner use.
