One of the most fabled diamonds is the Star of India. Almost 300 years ago, the “Star” sapphire was mined in Sri Lanka; by 1900, it had been purchased by J.P. Morgan and presented to the New York Museum of Natural History. The former professional surfer claimed it. The most famous stolen gem of the twentieth century, “Murf the Surf,” was recovered from a locker at a Miami bus station and returned to a museum. Why? The 563.35-carat, 112.62-gram gem is almost flawless and features star-shaped patterns on both sides. Stunning. There is also the famed Star of India tea. Teas from Assam, Darjeeling, and Sri Lanka, three of India’s most renowned tea-producing regions, are included in the blend. the Nilgiris Mountains, are full in history. The most expensive tea ever sold at auction in North America went for $600 per kilogram in 2006. The sale took place in Las Vegas.
The Star of India is a premium tea. Assam, Darjeeling, and Nilgiris teas picked at the height of their seasons make up this ideal blend. Malt, muscatel, and floral notes emerge when milk is added to the cup. Tea of the sapphire variety.
