The inspiration for this tea came to life many years ago. A guy rode his motorcycle across Europe in the early 1970s. As we headed south, we passed through dusty village after dusty village in the Spanish countryside.
On a whim one morning, he decided to head for Valencia, a city famous for its beautiful orange fields. He checked into a pensioner’s home, dusted himself off, and then ordered a roasted chicken and fries for lunch. After waiting for a few minutes, the wife of the pensione owner came through the doorway bearing a tray of chicken and a glass of the house specialty.
If wine had been the main attraction, this story would have gone nowhere. Fortunately, the woman had handed him a tall glass of orange juice that had been freshly squeezed and perfumed with vanilla. As the evening progressed, he learned that the pensioner’s brother managed an orange plantation and that his uncle was a vanilla farmer in Madagascar.
Whatever the case may be, the delicious taste of that glass of juice lingered with him for many years, time flew by, that free spirt guy became a Master Taster, and when he finally found his true vocation, he chose to make a tisane that encapsulated that flavour. After much trial and error, he found the exact combination of ingredients to recreate the delicious flavour that had first impressed him all those years before.
The resulting fruit blend has a great citrusy freshness that’s perfectly complemented by the creamy vanilla undertones. This cup is one-of-a-kind; just holding it makes you think of a sunny day in an orange orchard and the mysterious allure of Madagascar. With every sip, he is reminded of happier times—his youth, his motorcycle, his bellbottoms—you get the idea. Make a cup of tea and make your own personal history.
