The domesticated peach, known in Latin as Prunus persica, is a member of the rose family. Members of the genus Prunus include some of our most beloved fruit trees and shrubs, such as plums, apricots, and peaches. Fruiting occurs between June and September for most ‘stone’ fruits, which are endemic to warm climates. Flowering in the spring, several species of the genus Prunus are widely regarded for the beauty of their blossoms. Certain Prunus species are also harvested for their wood, which is used in the construction of furniture and cabinets.
It is believed that the contemporary peach business may be traced back to China, where it has been active for at least the past four thousand years. They arrived in India and Persia, and then spread to Japan and Europe.
Peaches are now the official state fruit of both South Carolina and Georgia. Peaches were associated with long life and immortality in Chinese culture. Though the apricot tree was first planted in central Asia, today the best fruit is grown throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. Overall, apricots are delicious, aromatic, and have a strong aroma. Do not pass up the opportunity to try them if you have not already done so. Enjoy the natural sweetness of these treats. If you want to try something delicious, you should definitely go for the Peach Apricot Tea.
